Mental Match Preparation
Jon Rogers, Referee Administrator, Section 12:
A few years ago, I took a team to a "friendly" tournament (no standings) where I also volunteered to referee. At the end of my team's second match of the day, I ran to referee a U-16 boys match to which I was assigned. I dashed onto the field and started the match. All seemed well until a fight broke out in the second half. After the game, I was bothered by my performance in what I expected to be a low intensity "friendly" match.
